91144: Catherine Maciver

Catherine (1854-1894) was the daughter of Alexander Maciver and Jane Maciver of 23 Coll.

She married John Macleod, of 67a North Tolsta, and the couple settled initially as cottars on her brother-in-law’s croft: 74 North Tolsta. They later settled as cottars at 23 Coll. The couple had five children, but it is not clear where they were born.

Once settled at 23 Coll the entire family contracted a contagious disease, probably Tuberculosis, from which they all died except the eldest son, Donald.
