Seumas Iain Mhurchaidh
James (1858-1930) was a son of John Smith and Elizabeth MacFarlane of 10 Branahuie.
At Melbost, in 1883, he married Margaret Maciver of 15 Melbost. James and Margaret were cottars on the croft at 10 Branahuie and they had six children. The family later moved to Stornoway.
In 1902 James and son, John emigrated to Canada and Margaret, Donald, Christina and Marion joined him in 1906. The family were Homesteaders at Central Butte, Saskatchewan.
