91897: Mary Thomson

Mary (1870-1958) was the daughter of John Thomson and Ann Graham, of 52 Coll.

Mary married Kenneth Martin, of 21a North Tolsta, and the couple settled at 21a North Tolsta as cottars. Their first child was born in 1891. In total they had eight children: five boys and three girls.

At some point Kenneth became a shepherd in Glen Tolsta, and though he inherited the house that went with the job the family never lived there. In some records they are said to have lived at Hill Street, but as the cottars house at 21a North Tolsta is located on Hill Street it may well just refer to this.

In 1922 the family moved to 8 North Street, Sandwick.
