26489: Angus Mackenzie

Angus, born in 1873, was a son of Malcolm and his second wife Ann nee Macphail. When Hacklete was resettled in 1880 this family were allocated No 9 but they were only there a few years when they swapped crofts with the Macleod family at No 8 Breaclete. Angus was a noted bard and scholar and was acting English teacher in 1901 (probably at Bernera primary school). He decided to study for the Ministry but died before his studies were completed. Some of his work appears in "Bardachd Leodhais".
