118303: Duncan Macleod

Duncan (1838-1916) was the son of John Macleod and Margaret Mackay of 20 Old Back.

In 1851, during the croft lottings, the family obtained 12 Back.

Duncan married Catherine Maciver, of 33 Coll, but it is not clear where the couple initially settled or where their first six children were born.

In 1874 the family obtained 65 Back as a newly lotted croft. The couple went on to have a further four children there. Duncan was widowed in 1894.

Duncan went on to marry Ann Mackenzie, of 62 Back, and the couple had two children. In due course 65 Back passed to the youngest son from his first marriage: Murdo.
