39001: Reef Beach

Traigh na Berie is a spectacular stretch of white sand between Kneep and Reef on the Valtos Peninsula. It looks out to the islands of Loch Roag – Pabbay, Vacsay, over to Bernera, and on the horizon, Old Hill, Berisay and Flodday – and is backed by a wide strip of machair.

The area is rich in archaeological remains, including a mesolithic settlement at the north end of the beach and an Atlantic round house in the machair at the south end.
