Roderick  (born 1841) was a son of Donald Macritchie and Marion Macaulay, 21 Old Gravir. In the 1852 lotting the family obtained 1 Gravir.

At Back, in 1870, he married Janet Maclennan, of 60 North Tolsta. Roderick and Janet were cottars at 60 North Tolsta  where they had three of their five children.

The family moved to Crossbost, where Roderick worked as a crofter. In 1877 Roderick was a pauper living in Gravir where Annabella and Donald were born. The family later moved to Stornoway.
