70050: Mary MacLeod

Mary MacLeod, born in October 1871, was the second daughter of that name born to Donald MacLeod and Catherine MacKillop, cottars on 1/2 Ruisgarry (Sandhill). 

Mary became a domestic servant, marrying John MacKillop of 5 Ruisgarry (Beasdaire) in 1908. Their only child Donald died of epilepsy at the age of just nine years.

She is briefly mentioned in the song Oran a’ Chianalais by John Archie MacAskill, published in An Ribheid Chiuil.
