69620: Alexander MacKillop

Alexander MacKillop, eldest child of John MacKillop and Margaret Munro, was born in old Ruisgarry in 1831, moving to croft 6 Ruisgarry which his father was allotted in 1850. Alexander became a fisherman, a cottar and then a crofter.

In 1868 Alexander married Annabella MacPherson at Trumisgarry in North Uist. All but their first two children were born on Berneray, where he was passed croft 5 Ruisgarry from his uncle Donald MacKillop around 1870. Following Alexander’s death it was passed to son John.
