Leverburgh, Harris
The village of Leverburgh lies at the south end of the Isle of Harris. The village was originally named Obbe and was renamed Leverburgh in December 1920. The soap tycoon Lord Leverhulme had previously bought the South Harris estate from the Earl of Dunmore, planning to make Leverburgh a major fishing centre to supply his Mac Fisheries shops throughout Britain.
