15659: Melbost Borve, Lewis

Melbost Borve was created in 1924 when the Board of Agriculture agreed to divide the land of Galson Farm into three crofting townships, the other two being North and South Galson. Melbost Borve has 15 crofts, and some feus have also been created more recently.

The township known as Melbost Borve in the first half of the 19th century is dealt with separately under the name of Old Melbost Borve.

Melbost Borve should not be confused with Melbost, a settlement on the east coast of Lewis.
