The land at Kyles Berneray, previously Kyles Bernera, was a farm until 1815, when it was divided into eight short-lived crofts, associated with the Glebe at Hougharry. By 1827 the farm was again in existence but by 1833 had been divided into six crofts, 1 to 6 Kyles Berneray. By 1840 the area had been incorporated into Newton Farm.

This area is now part of Newton Ferry.

Kyles Berneray should not be confused with Kyles Bernera in Lewis.
