37655: Tribute to Sgt John Macleod, Cameron Highlanders, by his sister

The verse below was found amongst family papers after Mary Bell Macleod died in Detroit, U.S.A.

Sergeant John Macleod. Cameron Highlanders, killed in action at the Battle of Loos

In Loving memory of my dear brother John who was killed in France at the Battle of Loos on the 25th September, 1915, aged 26 years [actually 25].

In the still and quiet hours of night

When sleep has forsaken my eyes,

My thoughts are far away in France

Where my dear brother lies.

His sorrowing sister, Mary Bell MacLeod, 1 Enaclete, Uig, Isle of Lewis.
