John (born 1886) was a son of Malcolm Mackay and Isabella Kennedy, 42 Gravir.
He emigrated to Canada and served as a piper with the Canadians in the First World War. John was severely wounded, he is mentioned in Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918.
