9311: Alexander Matheson
Alexander (1900-1977) was a son of Donald Matheson and Anne Macritchie, 39 Gravir and a twin of Malcolm.
He served with the Merchant Navy during the Second World War and survived when tanker British Glory was torpedoed on 15 October, 1940. His cousin Murdo Macritchie was also on board. The ship was sailing in convoy thirty eight miles off the Butt of Lewis when a torpedo hit the engine room.
After the War Alexander settled in Glasgow.
