Murdo (1834-1882) was the son of Donald Mackay and Christina Macleod, of 2 Old South Tolsta.
In 1851, during the croft relottings, the family obtained 42 North Tolsta. It is not certain if Murdo was still living in the parental home at this time.
Murdo never married.
