91804: John Macleod
John (1825-1895) was the son of Roderick Macleod and Margaret Smith. It is not certain where the family were living at the time of his birth, although it is possible it was Old South Tolsta Tack. There were also family connections to Uig.
During the 1830 croft lottings, the family acquired 20 Old South Tolsta. Then in the 1851 croft relottings, the family relocated to 20 North Tolsta.
John married Mary Macdonald of 13 North Tolsta, and the couple settled as cottars at 20 North Tolsta. They had the first of their eight children in 1852.
In due course 20 North Tolsta passed to their son, Angus.
