John (1857-1943) was the son of Murdo Macdonald and Annie Murray of 51 North Tolsta.
John married twice; his first marriage was to Christina Campbell of 13b North Tolsta. The couple settled as cottars at 13b North Tolsta and had three children: two boys and a girl. John was widowed in 1891.
John married Mary Graham of 9 North Tolsta and settled there with her as cottars. Mary already had one daughter Margaret; the couple had four children together: three boys and a girl.
John’s first child Torquil, went on to marry Mary’s first child, Margaret.
