68236: John Shaw
John (c1839-1875) was the second child of that name born to Kenneth Shaw and Mary MacLeod of old Borve in Berneray, then Borgh Mhor, Harris. In 1853 the family returned to become cottars on 1/2 Ruisgarry (Sandhill). In 1864 Kenneth obtained 13 Ruisgarry (Sunhill).
John became a crofter and married Christina Munro in 1866, and the couple became cottars on his father’s croft. Together, they had a family of three children. John died of consumption at the age of 36 years, following which Christina moved to Backhill.
