53889: Unknown Macleod
According to the book Tales and Traditions of the Lews this woman was married in Carnish to Donald Macdonald. She is said to be a sister of Iain Macleod – ‘a blind man from Crowlista’.
Another version says that she was the sister of Murdo Macleod (latterly of 13 Crowlista) He was one of the old soldiers of Uig that had fought during the Napoleonic wars – had been blinded in the conflict and returned to Uig where he received a pension. According to an old story he was quite a religious man and was supposed to have reproached his nephews in Carishader (this lady’s children) for breaking the sabbath on one occassion.
