Roderick Macdonald (1829-1880) was a son of John Macdonald and Effie Macrae, 8 Old Orinsay.
Orinsay was cleared in 1843 and the family were removed to 16 Crossbost.
In Lochs, in 1854, he married Christina Macleod of 2 Kershader. Roderick and Christina settled on 16b Crossbost and they had five children.
