Donald  (1899-1959) was a son of Alexander Macdonald and Margaret Kennedy, 23 Cromore.

On May 31, 1917 he enrolled in the Royal Naval Reserve under Service Number DA16362. He gave a false date of birth as he was not old enough to enrol. His record indicates that he was 5 ft 8 in tall with grey eyes and a sallow complexion. Donald was immediately Mobilised and served in the Royal Navy during the First World War. He served aboard HMS Attentive, HMS Iolaire, HMS Zaria and Whaler HMS Finwhale. His name is mentioned in  Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918. 

Donald returned home on the HMY Iolaire at the end of the war and survived the disaster.

On April 23, 1923 he and his brother, Angus emigrated to Canada on the SS Metagama bound for Quebec. He married Mary Ann Fontana. Donald and Mary Ann settled at Shell Lake, Saskatchewan.

Donald is buried in the veteran's Section of Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon.
