1587: Murdo Nicolson
Murchadh Dhòmhnaill Thormoid
Murdo (1814-1896) was a son of Donald Nicolson and Ann Mackenzie, 10 Old Eishken.
The family left Eishken in the 1820s and were Cottars at 5 Old Gravir.
In Lochs, in 1841, he married Catherine Macleod, 13 Calbost. Murdo and Catherine settled at 11 Calbost and they had ten children, including adopted daughter, Christina Finlayson.
Murdo operated the Calbost Mill on the stream, probably the Mill was there when he came as the first tenant to croft 11. We feel that the original operator of the Calbost Meal Mill might have been the Tacksman Robert Weir.
