Murchadh Nèill Iain

Murdo (1898-1918) was a son of Neil Macphail and Ann Carmichael, 19 Gravir. The family later moved to 16 Oliver's Brae in Stornoway and then to 6 Mackenzie Street.

He served in 10th/11th Highland Light Infantry in the First World War under Service Number 45467. Murdo lost his life in Belgium aged 19. His name is commemorated on Panel 9 of the Ploegsteert War Memorial, the Stornoway War Memorial and Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918,
