William Donald was a son of Angus Macleod and Catherine Macleod, 18 Sheshader.

At Inverness, in 1957, he married Murdina Mackenzie, Stornoway, formerly of 6/7 Gravir. William and Murdina settled at 9 Marybank and they had two children.
