118845: Johan Maclennan

Johan (1930-2019) was a daughter of Rev Murdo Maclennan and Betty Buchanan, 9 Valtos. She lived in Carloway for some time, where her father was a minister. Johan attended Esdaile College in Edinburgh before moving to Aberdeen where she lectured at Craibstone, part of Aberdeen University Agricultural Course.

Johan was unmarried. She moved back to Lewis to care for her elderly parents and after her father retired from the ministry to live in Valtos, Johan became busy engaging in crofting and stock rearing. She spent the last years of her life in Carloway Care Unit, within sight of her old home.
