Murdo, born 1818, was the son of Christopher MacCusbic and Salvia MacAskill of Borve. Murdo, like his father, became a tenant farmer in Borve, marrying Ann Morrison of 7 Orasay. Together they were to have six children.
The family moved to Kendebig during the 1840s, then to Kyles Scalpay during the 1860s.
