Christina MacLeod, born 1791, of Duirinish, Skye married Samuel MacAulay, with whom she was to have seven children. They made their home in Borve, Berneray.
A widow by the time of the 1851 census, Christina is shown farming a plot of 12 acres. In 1854, with the clearance of crofts to create Borve Farm, the family was moved to Sruth, Harris as cottars. In 1861 her grand-daughter Catherine was living with her there.
