75831: Ayr

Ayr is a resort town, situated on the Firth of Clyde, about 42 miles southwest of Glasgow. It was here, in 1297, that William Wallace burned the military barracks of King Edward I of England. Originally known as Inverayr, the town developed as a port and centre of ship-building. Nowadays it is well known for its racecourse hosting National Hunt and flat races.
