52687: Corby, Northamptonshire

Corby is a town in Northamptonshire. It was a quiet village until the 1930s, when the construction of one of Britain’s largest steelworks commenced. People then arrived from all over Britain to find work, and the large number of Scottish migrant workers earned the town its former nickname of ‘Little Scotland’. Corby was designated a New Town in 1950. .
