118186: Ma bhitheas tu dol a dh’ iasgach

Ma bhitheas tu dol a dh’ iasgach

‘S gu ‘m bi thu ag iarraidh bearings

Cuma tu i ‘n iar air an Robhair

‘S as a sin air d’fhiaradh, a null gu Sgeir an Leusain

‘S sin ma bhitheas an lionadh a’ dortadh.

The above advice was given by bard Allan MacLeod, Ailean Chaluim ‘ic Ruairidh, to a younger man who was going fishing. The Rover is shown on the charts as Sgeir a’ Bhàta Reothairt.

If you are going fishing

And you are needing bearings

Keep her to the west of the Rover

And from there a slanting, over to the Sight Rock,

That is, if the flood tide is pouring
