111406: Schiehallion, 24 North Tolsta

Schiehallion was the name given to the new house that was built at 24 North Tolsta by Janet Smith and James Duncan.

Janet’s father, Donald Smith, had passed the croft to her, in approximately 1985 and at that time the former croft house was feued off; after his death the house was sold.

The house was named after a hill, near Pitlochry: which is where Janet Smith’s husband, James Duncan, was from. James didn’t live for very long after the house was built, but the couple had two children.

After James’s death Janet married a second time, a man from Shader, Barvas.
