121918: SS Laurentian

The SS Polynesian was an Ocean Liner built by Robert Steel and Co, Greenock for the Allan Line. She was known as Rolling Polly.  The ship was refitted and her name was changed to SS Laurentian and was used to carry emigrants to Canada.

On route from Boston to Glasgow on September 6, 1909 SS Laurentian ran aground in thick fog west of Mistaken Point near Cape Race, Newfoundland.
