The SS Cheldale was a Cargo Steamship built by John Priestman & Co, Sunderland in 1925 for the Morrison SS Co Ltd, Newcastle.

On February 17, 1940 the SS Cheldale collided with the SS Greystoke Castle and sank in minutes with the loss of 16 lives.
