Catherine (born 1876) was the daughter of Murdo Murray and Catherine Maclean, of the Eastern Townships of Quebec. Both of her parents had links to the Isle of Lewis: her mother to Carnish and her father emigrated from 39 North Tolsta prior to her birth.
