92678: Alexander Macrae

Alexander (born 1842) was the son of Alexander Macrae and Margaret Macdonald, of 22 Old North Tolsta.

In 1854, when Old North Tolsta was decrofted to make way for Tolsta Farm, the family obtained 44 North Tolsta, as a newly lotted croft.

Alexander married Annabella Macleod, of 36 North Tolsta in 1865, and the couple settled as cottars at 36 North Tolsta. The couple had four children there.

In 1876 the family emigrated to the Eastern Townships of Quebec, and a daughter was also born this year after leaving Tolsta.

Over the next few years the family returned to Inverness and had three more children there; late in the 1880s, they returned to Canada to settle in the Eastern Townships of Quebec.

In total the couple had nine children: three boys and six girls.|
