92170: Murdo Maciver

Murdo (born 1876) was the son of Angus Maciver and Isabella Maciver; the family were cottars at 25 North Tolsta.

Murdo succeeded his cousin as monitor at North Tolsta Junior and Secondary School.

Murdo moved to Southampton, joined the Royal Navy and by the end of the First World War he was a Naval Commander on a submarine.

During the Second World war he came out of retirement and served as a Commodore on North Atlantic and Murmansk convoys.
