92071: Isabella Murray

Isabella (born 1853) was the daughter of Norman Murray and Anne Smith; the family were cottars at 24 North Tolsta: Isabella’s maternal grandparents croft.

In 1854 Isabella’s father died falling from a load of herring nets.

In approximately 1858 Isabella’s mother married, widower, Donald Maciver. Isabella gained seven step siblings through this marriage; while some of these siblings were in their twenties, three of them were under ten. Her mother settled at 32 North Tolsta, but it is not clear if Isabella lived with them.

Isabella married Donald Macdonald, of 37 North Tolsta; the couple settled at 37 North Tolsta, as cottars.

In 1873, the couple emigrated, with Donald’s widowed mother and five of his seven siblings, to Lake Megantic, Canada.

Once in Quebec the couple had nine children: two boys and seven girls.

Nothing further is known.
