Donald (1821-1891) was the son of Kenneth Murray and Christina Maclean of Old South Tolsta Tack.
In the 1830 croft lottings the family obtained 15 Old South Tolsta.
Donald's brother was born in 1824 and his mother died the same year possibly in child birth.
Donald's father married Margaret Campbell. Donald gained four half siblings from their marriage; the first was born in 1827 and the last in 1836.
Donald's father died in approximately 1845.
Donald married Isabella Maciver, of 21 Old South Tolsta, it is not certain where the couple spent their early marriage and had their first four children. However it is likely they were cottars at one of their parents crofts. In the 1851 croft relottings Donald's step mother, Margaret Campbell, obtained 27 North Tolsta and his wife's family obtained 23 North Tolsta.
In 1858 Donald and Isabella obtained 22 North Tolsta and they had a further six children there.
Five of their children died young; at least four of them between 1872 and 1876.
Donald was widowed in 1892 and died the following year.
In due course 22 North Tolsta passed to their son-in-law William Macleod.
