91514: Torquil Macleod
Torquil (1788-1871) was the son of Donald Macleod of Barvas.
He married Ann Maciver, but it is not clear where the couple initially settled or where their first child was born.
By 1820 he is listed as a sub-tenant in Old South Tolsta Tack and the couple had a further five children there.
In 1825 he joined the Seaforth Militia.
In 1830, during the croft lottings, the family obtained 24 Old South Tolsta.
In the 1851 croft relotting they obtained 13 North Tolsta.
After Torquil’s death 13 North Tolsta was split between his grandson Donald, 13a North Tolsta and son-in-law Angus Campbell 13b North Tolsta.
