90961: Isabella Macleod

Isabella Macleod (1839-1918) was the daughter of Donald Macleod and Mary Stewart. The address at the time of her birth is not known. In 1851 the family obtained 4 North Tolsta as a newly lotted croft.

Isabella married John Macdonald of 19 North Tolsta. The couple settled as cottars at 19 North Tolsta and they had two children: a boy and a girl. Isabella was widowed in 1871. 

Isabella’s second marriage was to widower Murdo Maciver of 33 North Tolsta. Murdo settled with Isabella as a cottar at 19 North Tolsta; the couple had three children, two girls and a boy.

In 1882 on the death of her first husband’s mother 19 North Tolsta was split into three crofts: 19a, 19b and 19c. 19c North Tolsta was passed to Isabella’s second husband Murdo Maciver.

The couple had a further two daughters at 19c North Tolsta. In total Isabella had one step daughter and seven children of her own: five girls and two boys.
