Salvia, born 1834, was the daughter of Hugh MacLean. She lived on 8 Ardvey, Finsbay. She married James MacLeod, with whom she was to have seven children. They made their home in Ardhasaig, Harris moving to Quay on the island of Berneray around 1864, then to Newton Farm, North Uist during the 1870s, after the birth of their youngest child, Christina.
