Christina, or more usually, Chirsty was born in 1842, the eldest daughter of Rachel MacDonald, cottar on 15 Ruisgarry (Trealigarry).
In 1868 Chirsty married fisherman Donald MacLeod, with whom she was to have five children. In 1875 they moved into a newly built cottar’s house in Backhill, and they lived there until 1900, when he obtained one of the newly allotted crofts in Borve, croft 5.
