72396: Allan MacLeod

Allan MacLeod was born in 1844, the son of John MacLeod and Mary MacLeod. They lived in Borve, probably at the site later known as Tobhta Iain ‘ic Ailein.  In 1854, with the clearance of crofts to make way for Borve Farm, the family was moved to 2 Lickisto, Harris. Allan became a fisherman and married Mary MacLeod of Quay, Berneray in 1877.

The eldest of their seven children, Ewen, was born on Berneray in 1878. The other six – Mary, John, Donald, Angus, Catherine and Mary Ann – were presumably born in Lickisto.
