Marion, born in 1870, was the eldest child of Lachlan Munro and Ann Ferguson of 3 Ruisgarry, then 10 Borve. In 1891, she was employed as a servant at the Established Church Manse by Rev Dugald Gillies.

She became a weaveress and married army pensioner John MacLeod in 1908. They made their home at Glen House, on 9 Ruisgarry (Gunhill), where their three sons were born. Her husband died in 1922; Marion and her sons moved to 5 Lochportain in 1924.
