Roderick MacDonald

Roderick MacDonald

Roderick, born about 1829, was the son of Norman MacDonald and Chirsty Morrison of Borve. The site of their home was later known as Tobhta Thormoid Dhuinne. Roderick's mother died when Roderick was aged about 9 years and his father remarried. Roderick lived instead with his uncle Angus Morrison, with whom he and his new wife Janet Paterson continued to live following their marriage in 1857. Janet and Roderick's three children were born there.

The family emigrated to Stratford, Ontario in 1863 or 1864, following the death of Roderick's uncle and aunt.
