Johanna Buchanan
Johanna (born 1896) was a daughter of Malcolm Buchanan and Margaret Maclean, 18 Uigen. She left home young to work at Moy Hall, Invernesshire. She was in much demand as a cook and moved first to Edinburgh and then to London, where she met Cyril Alfred Goodge from Hertfordshire, who was gardener/chauffeur to the same Mount-Stewart family. They married and their first child, Malcolm was born in London. They lost their jobs during the recession of the 1930s and moved back to Uig and bought the small farm at Miavaig, which had come up for sale. Their other three children were born there.
