65418: John Mackay

John (born c1796) was a son of Malcolm Mackay and Catherine Macdonald from Crowlista. In 1825 John married Mary Morrison from Cappadale and lived in Miavaig before settling at 2 Carishader. John and Mary had five children.

According to local tradition the family was cleared from Miavaig when Miavaig Farm and House was created in the 1850s for James Macrae, the Registrar and the Inspector of the Poor in Uig.
