63266: Alexander Morrison

Alasdair Alasdair Dhòmhnaill

Alexander (1871-1916) was a son of Alexander Morrison and Margaret Maclennan, 20 Marvig.

He served 14 years in the Seaforth Highlanders and saw service in India, Egypt and South Africa. Alexander held several medals, one for life-saving.

He served with the Canadian Expeditionary force – 29th Canadian Infantry (British Columbia Regiment) in the First World War. He was killed in action on 16th September1916, whilst bringing in the wounded.   

Alexander's name is commemorated on the Vimy War Memorial, the Pairc War Memorial, the Lewis War Memorial in Stornoway and in Loyal Lewis: Roll of Honour 1914-1918.
