54350: Robert Steven
Robert, son of Thomas Steven and Barbara Martin, 37 Balallan was a printer with the Nairnshire Telegraph. He was residing at 42 Kingsmill Road, Inverness when he married Marjorie Hutchison, 59 Castle Street, Inverness. He moved to Stornoway in 1905 as librarian of the Carnegie Library. After the library was destroyed by fire, he opened a tobacconist and stationer’s shop at 36 Point Street, Stornoway. He was also a founder and director of the Stornoway Electric Supply Company, served as a town councillor and on the Stornoway Pier and Harbour Commission.
